Staying hopeful in times of uncertainty.

Dear Friends,

The commitment and support received each year from our partners and sponsors for the Frederick Community Health Fair has been remarkable. For 17 years the Asian American Center has proudly organized this annual event providing a variety of health services, consultations, referrals, and assistance in basic healthcare needs.

We have been able to offer blood pressure and glucose screenings, bone density tests, dental and eye health evaluations, guidance on colorectal screenings, flu shots, and much more.

Additionally, many agencies, organizations, and businesses have participated in the health fair offering counseling on nutrition, general wellness information, and choosing health insurance. The services made available at the health fair would cost an individual an estimated $1,000 if they had to pay for them.

Unfortunately, with the current landscape and uncertainty of funding from federal programs, it seems the prudent thing is to postpone the health fair this year. We have given this careful consideration and weighed various options. We have hesitantly reached this decision after much discussion.

We are extremely happy with a successful seventeen years and thousands of people helped. We are hopeful that we can reinstitute the health fair in the future. Certainly, it will be possible if funding issues are resolved and with support from you as shown in the past.
